Shopping:
Most top fashion houses are located in the Concorde/Champs-Elysees area,
in particular, avenue Marigny and rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore. Fashion
boutiques selling ready-to-wear clothes are to be found in place des
Victories and in the Marais district.
Shops are usually open weekdays from 9-7, smaller shops often close for
lunch.
Large department stores can also be found in Paris, one of which is called
Galeries Lafayette. This is a few blocks away from the Printemps, with
designer ready-to-wear fashion and lingerie. Under a giant glass dome there
is an enticing display of everything a home and its inhabitants need.
An elegant shopping centre can be found beneath the place du Carrousel
and communicating with the Louvre; several boutiques connected with the
arts, Virgin store and several bars serving food from different countries.
Paris is well known for its designer brands. Whether you are interested
in buying these or not, it is still well worth your while having a look.
Chanel can be found on 31 rue Cambon, 75001 Paris.
Givenchy can be found on 3 avenue George V, 75008 Paris.
Nightlife:
Hip clubs come and go and Ds move around from one to another, but some
things remain the same: the constant buzz that surrounds the city at nightime
although nothing really starts before midnight. Some clubs have an entry
fee that includes one drink. It pays to be smartly dressed therefore jeans
and trousers are out.
Les Bains is a hip rendezvous of models and VIPs, with a different style
of music.
7 rue bu Bourg-I’Abbe, 75003 Paris.
Le Cithea has live music, disco, jazz and funk all year round.
114 rue Oberkampf, 75011 Paris.
Moulin-Rouge- Undoubtedly the most famous of all! The show still includes
impressive displays of the French can-can.
82 boulevard de Clichy, 75018 Paris
The municipality of Paris organises free open-air concerts in the city’s
parks and gardens between May and September- these are well worth seeing.
